Year 5 - Making Coventry Cathedral

cathedral5Some year 5 pupils have been making a big picture of Coventry Cathedral for a new board in the hall. It is based on remembrance in Coventry of the First World War and was influenced by the poppies at the Tower of London.

Year 5 - Art

yr5art9Some pupils in year 5 have been taking part in an art project, a painting for the dining hall. The painting to be named "Bless the hands that make the food" is based on stories from the bible involving food such as the feeding of the five thousand.

Welcome to Year 5

Mr Hamilton and Mrs Milham welcome you all to the Year 5 News page!

During the Autumn term our topic is ‘Ancient Greece’ in which we will learn about a variety of aspects from this fascinating period in time. We will focus on history, geography, sculpture, cooking and philosophy. Our aim is to become experts in all things Ancient Greece!

We need our outdoor PE kits on Thursday and our indoor PE kits on a Tuesday.

Mathematics homework will be uploaded to ‘I am Learning’ on a Friday and literacy and end of unit maths homework will be sent out in the grey books on a Friday and due back into school on a Wednesday.

In Literacy, we will be focusing on myths, recount writing and poetic style and instructional writing.

In Numeracy, we will be securing our written methods in all four maths operations and also developing our understanding of factors, angles, area and perimeter.

In RE we will be focusing on creation.

We are looking forward to a productive term in Year 5. Thank you so much for your support!

Mr Hamilton
